2nd Treatment for Killuminati by Joey Bada$$ featuring Capital STEEZ, produced by Knxwledge

Summary of Narrative

The video is based on the daily routines of a teenage rapper who is rebellious and passionate about his beliefs, lifestyle and art, but rather than stating the obvious he prefers to go about it in a more artistic and intelligent way. We aimed to create a video that will express the rebellious feel that this song gives us. The story line opens with the teenagers daily morning routine which includes getting ready and dressed in urban clothing, grabbing his skateboard and skating off in his East London estate to meet up with his friends. Once he’s met up with his friends in similar clothing who area apparently waiting for him they all skate together to school. As skateboarders are often seen as rebellious and anti-social, we chose to make skateboards and skateboarding one of the main activities in this video. As well as the narrative there are also a few scenes in which the rappers are in a warehouse lip syncing, we chose to put this in the video so that the narrative and the song go hand in hand but also so that the lip syncing is presented as a key feature of the song.

Lyrics

The lyrics of the song are very metaphorical and there seems to be no apparent story line. Therefore, the video with its story line will make various references to the lyrics of the song through props, actions and scenery.

Location

The locations for this song will be the flat that the rapper lives in which will be a small urban flat, various streets around the Forest Gate and Stratford area for the scenes where the rappers and the group of skaters will be; this area has been chosen because of all of the recent development from the Olympics we felt that the areas in Stratford other than Westfield’s wasn’t being represented or displayed so this video will show that.

Length

The length of the song is 2 minutes and 30 seconds but we have chosen to make the video longer by putting the intro on a loop so at the beginning of the song we can develop the narrative more this should increase the length of the overall video to be just about 3 minutes.

Genre

The genre of this music is hip hop music and the style of the video is mainly performance based with a narrative story mixed in.

Props

The main props used will be skateboards as that is the method of transportation that the group will use. Other props used will be the things he uses in the morning to get ready i.e. toothbrush, alarm clock, etc.

Actors

The two main actors in this video will be the rappers who will be lip syncing with the two rappers who did this song, Joey Bada$$ and Capital STEEZ. There will also be 4 other actors that play the skate group they hang out with. Some other actors will be the corner shop owner and the police men in the background.

Audience

The target audience for this music video will be hip hop fans and skaters but we hope to attract all kinds of music listeners.

Broadcasting channel

We will be using YouTube to present our music video because it is free to use and our target market mainly use this channel to watch music videos and discover new music.

  1. Cameron, there's very little here. Although I've seen some good case studies, and your pre-production documents, you haven't yet uploaded them. I'm also disappointed that you haven't yet started using your blog to reflect on your progress and give a sense of how you're improving, planning and monitoring. You haven't uploaded a creative account of research and planning. You need to resolve these issues asap and ensure in future that you are blogging much more regularly.
